In a major breakthrough in internal security operations, the Nigeria Police Force has rescued a 4-year-old kidnapping victim, dismantled a fake kidnapping syndicate, and arrested seven suspected fraudsters in separate operations across Katsina, Nasarawa, and Jigawa States.
In Katsina State, police uncovered a staged kidnapping involving a 14-year-old girl and her 4-year-old sister. The teenager, who resurfaced four months after her reported disappearance, confessed to orchestrating the act with three accomplices aged 25, 19, and 16. All suspects have been arrested, and the younger child was rescued unharmed.
In Nasarawa State, operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 45 rounds of ammunition after intercepting a suspected arms trafficker who abandoned his motorcycle and fled into a bush. A manhunt is underway for the suspect.
Meanwhile, in Jigawa State, a joint security operation led to the arrest of seven suspected fraudsters in Birnin Kudu LGA. Authorities recovered $46,100 in counterfeit U.S. currency, multiple phones, POS machines, power banks, and documents linked to electronic fraud.
The police say these efforts underscore their resolve to fight criminality using intelligence-driven strategies. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has called on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a safer Nigeria.
