In the past two years on the saddle, he has come up strong. He has made appreciable and indelible impressions. The milestones are resonating. Our subject has proved himself a man of like passion as the late Premier of defunct Eastern Region, Dr. Michael Iheonukara Okpara and former Governor of old Imo State, Chief Sam Mbakwe, men who made a difference in their generations.

The man of the moment now perceived by many as larger than life or as superman because of his exceptional and phenomenal transformation of the ecosystem of his domain, is Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, the 5th democratically elected Governor of Abia State. A studied look at the administration of Governor Otti since May 29, 2923, when he ascended leadership of the state depicts that Abia State is at present a showroom of good governance and progress.

The altruistic, pragmatic, visionary, purposeful and intentional leadership style of Governor Alex Otti to governance of the state has engendered accelerated transformation and development. With a vivid perception and full understanding of the complex problems that bedeviled the state, the governor has in only two years in office reengineered the base for growth, development and a prosperous future.

From what is on ground, it is evident that the Otti led administration is very mindful of a disciplined society, good governance, transparency, accountability, productivity, meaningful reforms and people-centred policies. To this extent, the mid-term scorecard of the working governor of Abia State is excellence on parade in service delivery, transformation and strategic accomplishments in critical sectors of the state’s economy.

For the record, the impactful leadership and achievements of Governor Alex Otti are visibly noticeable on infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, sports, security, waste management, youth empowerment, industrialisation and the public service. On welfare, the incumbent government has made the regular and prompt payment of salary and pension to civil servants and retirees a priority. Unlike what obtained in the past when pension was paid in half, it is now fully paid.

One of the hallmarks of the New Abia Administration is that it’s transformation initiatives are inclusive as projects are deliberately spread across the three senatorial districts of the state.

In his speech at the grand finale of activities marking his second anniversary, Governor Alex Otti rightly stated: “We are not here for business as usual. We came to work and by the grace of God, we will leave Abia State far better than we met it.”. True to type, the governor who attributed his modest achievements to the Almighty who has been inspiring and empowering him, has in just two years of his four year first tenure, worked so hard and very well to earn himself a second term come 2027.

The spate of hearty endorsements all over the state on Governor Alex Otti to continue in office with his good deeds till 2031 are testaments of his uncommon accomplishments and general acceptability by Ndi Abia. Expectedly, as the governor is currently transversing the three senatorial districts of the state inaugurating completed projects, he will certainly receive more and more nods for a second term from the people.

All that is needed is for Governor Otti to remain focused and sustain the momentum. Let him keep on firing. More importantly, all well meaning Abians at home and in the diaspora should continue in their loyalty, solidarity, support and cooperation to a man who has redefined, changed the narrative of governance and given Abia State a new face.
