Abuja,

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly rejected the purported cancellation of the 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting by Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, describing his actions as unconstitutional and a gross violation of the party’s constitution.

In a strongly worded press release, the BoT stated that the NEC meeting, scheduled for Monday, 30th June 2025, stands valid and binding. The BoT emphasized that no individual or group has the authority to alter or cancel a decision made by the NEC, the party’s highest decision-making body after the National Convention.

The BoT also condemned the attempt to reinstate Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, calling the move “spurious” and against both the PDP Constitution and a Supreme Court judgment.

Citing Section 31 (3) of the PDP Constitution, the BoT reiterated that the NEC’s resolutions, including its 99th meeting decision on 27th May 2025 to hold the upcoming NEC meeting, must be respected by all party members and organs.

The BoT warned that unilateral actions by the Acting Chairman threaten the party’s unity and constitutional order.
