The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed that the postponement of its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting is due to statutory reasons and not a defiance of the 99th NEC decision.

In a press statement signed by the Acting National Chairman, H.E. Amb Umar Iliya Damagum, following the 601st National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, the party clarified its position and announced that an Expanded National Caucus meeting will still hold as scheduled on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the NEC Hall of the National Secretariat, Abuja.

Key resolutions from the NWC meeting include:

1. Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the National Secretary in line with INEC’s advice.

2. A statutory National Caucus meeting has been convened with notices duly issued by the National Secretary.

3. The meeting will involve broader stakeholders for explanations and review of current issues within the party.

The PDP leadership urged members and supporters to disregard conflicting reports and emphasized its commitment to party unity and Nigeria’s democratic stability.

Damagum called on stakeholders to prioritize the survival and rebuilding of the party and expressed hope for productive deliberations at the upcoming caucus session.
