Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the 19 Northern states have thrown their weight behind the proposed expanded National Caucus meeting scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025.

Following an hour-long strategic meeting, the State Chairmen issued a communique applauding the resolution of the lingering controversy surrounding the position of the National Secretary of the party. They commended the Ambassador Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) for its adherence to due process and respect for the recommendation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which reaffirmed Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu as the authentic National Secretary of the PDP.

The Northern Chairmen praised the NWC for its maturity and legal foresight, stating that the party must steer clear of actions that could expose it to unnecessary legal pitfalls ahead of the crucial 2027 general elections.

They also welcomed the Acting National Chairman’s call for an expanded National Caucus meeting to hold at the PDP National Secretariat, describing it as a timely intervention that will help shape the agenda for the forthcoming 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The Chairmen pledged their total preparedness for the expanded Caucus session and expressed optimism for a productive and unifying outcome.
