Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has released what he claims to be evidence confirming that he nominated former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi, as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2019 general elections.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast last Monday, Reno stated that he not only nominated Obi but also set up Atiku’s media team for the 2019 campaign. His statement sparked controversy on social media, with many Nigerians, especially Peter Obi’s supporters on Twitter, demanding proof of the claim.
In response, Omokri published an email allegedly sent by Peter Obi, which contained his CV and a message indicating Atiku had referred him to Reno.
The email has since ignited fresh debates online regarding the behind-the-scenes dealings of the 2019 PDP presidential campaign.
