Controversial Nigerian entertainer, Speed Darlington, has issued a fiery response to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) over the publication of “Wanted” posters bearing his image.
In a viral video message, Speed Darlington denied committing any crime and stated unequivocally that he has no intention of honouring any invitation unless the agency pays him N2.5 million as an appearance fee.
“All those ‘Wanted’ pictures you people posted about me, I need all of them deleted. I’m not coming anywhere, I did not commit any crime. If you want me to come, you have to pay me 2.5 million,” he declared.
The U.S.-based singer further accused NAPTIP of using his name to gain social media traction, alleging that the agency is “chasing clout” and trying to appear active in the public eye without genuine cause.
“They want Nigerians to think that they are working,” he said, suggesting that the agency’s move was more about public relations than law enforcement.
In addition to his personal appearance fee, Speed Darlington also demanded payment for his personal assistant as well as the booking of roundtrip flights for both of them.
NAPTIP has yet to officially respond to the entertainer’s demands or comments.
