A Nigerian businesswoman has voiced her pain online after being denied entry into the United States (US), despite possessing a valid visa.

In an emotional video shared from her return flight to Nigeria, the woman recounted her ordeal, revealing that she had travelled to Texas to attend a trade fair.

According to her, she held a B1/B2 visa, commonly issued for tourism and business-related visits. However, she was unexpectedly turned back upon arrival.

“I was denied entrance into the US and that is because my visa [is] a B1–B2 visa which is [for] tourism/business meetings,” she explained tearfully.

“When I landed, I was detained for 24 hours and I was questioned. I told them I was going to exhibit but I did not know any better because the US has your data and your Instagram page.”

She revealed that immigration officers examined her social media accounts and private messages, using the content they found to question and ultimately dispute the reason she gave for her trip.

Speaking through tears, she said: “Apparently, my Instagram says different. They even checked all my messages with my customers. The customers I have been telling that we are coming, they can pick up and all of that.”
