A high-powered delegation of key loyalists to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, under the banner of Concerned Leaders of the PDP, has formally joined the emerging opposition coalition aimed at reclaiming Nigeria’s leadership from what they described as the “disastrous” APC-led government.
The decision was announced in a strongly-worded communiqué issued at the end of a closed-door meeting held today at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
The communique paints a grim picture of Nigeria’s current state, accusing the APC government of weaponizing state institutions, stifling democratic institutions, and eroding national values.
Key Excerpts from the Communiqué:
> “Since our loss in the last presidential election and the exit of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu as National Chairman, our dear Party has never been the same again… The PDP, which once represented hope, discipline, and democratic progress, is now a shadow of itself,” the group stated.
They blamed the current leadership of the PDP for failing to uphold the party’s constitution, leading to widespread disarray and internal sabotage. The group further lamented the deterioration of Nigeria’s global image and economic outlook under the current administration.
According to the resolution from the meeting:
The APC-led government must be voted out due to its “false and evil propaganda” and poor governance record.
All development indices have collapsed, making life unbearable for the average Nigerian.
The PDP, once a formidable institution, has been weakened by internal indiscipline and external threats.
The group called on all well-meaning PDP members and other patriotic Nigerians to join the broader coalition to save the country.
