Abuja, Nigeria – Former Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has expressed his disappointment over the possibility of Peter Obi parting ways with the Labour Party, saying he had hoped the former presidential candidate would remain with the party.

In a statement on Wednesday, Datti Baba-Ahmed clarified that while Obi’s involvement in the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition may raise questions, it does not technically mean he has left the Labour Party.

“Technically speaking, being in the ADC coalition does not mean you have left your party,” he said.

The respected academic and politician emphasized that despite the internal issues facing the Labour Party, it still deserves loyalty and commitment.

“Despite all misgivings, the Labour Party deserves more than being walked away from,” Datti Baba-Ahmed added.
