Abuja, July 4, 2025 — Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lashed out at the Interim Spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, accusing him and others of selfish ambition and political instability that led to the decline of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Reacting to Abdullahi’s recent remarks accusing Wike of contributing to the fall of the PDP, Olayinka said it was the greed and desperation for power exhibited by politicians like Abdullahi that destroyed the party.
He dismissed Abdullahi’s claims as deceitful and dishonest, urging him and other members of what he described as a “coalition of confusion” to stop pretending they care about Nigeria’s wellbeing, when in fact, they are only driven by hunger for political power.
“Was it because of Wike that Abdullahi left the PDP in 2014? Or because he fell out with Senator Bukola Saraki, the man who politically made him?” Olayinka asked in a strongly worded statement.

He went further to accuse Abdullahi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of political betrayal and instability that harmed the PDP. “It is on record that Atiku’s political treachery frustrated the PDP’s efforts to win Lagos in 2003,” he said.
Olayinka also questioned Abdullahi’s multiple party switches, noting that he had defected from the PDP to the APC while serving as a minister under President Goodluck Jonathan, only to later abandon the APC as well.
He added that despite several attempts, Abdullahi failed to win major elections in Kwara State, describing him as a “political liability” whose ambition has never resonated with the electorate.

On Abdullahi’s comments about the new political coalition being focused on saving Nigeria’s democracy, Olayinka dismissed it as a “blatant lie,” citing the questionable political histories of its members including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Dino Melaye.
“How can a coalition of political jobbers and opportunists claim to be about saving democracy? Nigerians are not deceived,” he said.
Olayinka concluded by calling on Abdullahi and his allies to stop misleading Nigerians with false narratives, asserting that their true motive is self-serving.
