During the policy meeting, institutions were given the opportunity to propose cut-off marks for their various programmes. These proposals were deliberated upon before final approval was granted.

JAMB clarified that while 150 is the general minimum for universities, individual institutions are permitted to set higher cut-off marks for specific courses based on their internal policies and capacity. However, no institution will be allowed to admit any candidate who scores below the threshold it submitted and had approved at the policy meeting.

The board emphasized that the policy ensures transparency and consistency in the admission process, preventing arbitrary changes once the cycle begins.

The policy meeting is a key annual event following the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), shaping the framework for admissions into Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
