This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during the opening session of the 2025 Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) held in Abuja.

Dr. Alausa emphasized that the policy aims to strike a balance between cognitive maturity and academic readiness among prospective students. He stressed that the 16-year benchmark is non-negotiable and that all higher institutions across the country are expected to strictly comply with the directive.
