The South West Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the party and declared its full commitment to the unity and progress of the PDP across the region and the country.

The declaration came at the end of a strategic meeting held today at the Olusoji Adagunodo South West PDP Zonal Secretariat in Ibadan, Oyo State, where party leaders and stakeholders from the region gathered to deliberate on critical issues affecting the party.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the caucus expressed deep appreciation for the leadership of the Executive Governors of Oyo and Osun States, Engr. Seyi Makinde and Senator Ademola Adeleke, respectively, for their continued efforts in promoting the growth and stability of the party in the region.

Reaffirming that the PDP remains strong and united in the South West, the caucus called on all party organs and stakeholders to stay focused and work diligently towards a successful national convention aimed at repositioning the party ahead of future challenges.

Dismissing recent reports of involvement in a coalition, the caucus made it clear that it is not part of any such arrangement, while encouraging members to remain steadfast and supportive of leadership efforts at both zonal and national levels. However, it aligned with the National Working Committee’s stance that the PDP remains open to working with like-minded citizens in the collective mission to rescue Nigeria from what it described as the “stranglehold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

Looking ahead to upcoming elections, the caucus resolved to intensify mobilization efforts to ensure victory for the PDP in the scheduled bye-elections in Oyo and Ogun States, as well as local government elections in Lagos State. The group expressed confidence in securing sweeping wins, asserting that the PDP remains the party of choice in the South West and across Nigeria.

The caucus also strongly condemned the Federal Government’s withholding of Osun State’s local government allocations, labeling the action unconstitutional and a violation of the rights and welfare of the people.

Raising alarm over the nation’s deepening insecurity and worsening economic hardship under the APC administration, the caucus echoed Governor Makinde’s earlier remark that the 2027 general elections would be a decisive contest between Nigerians and the APC, with confidence that the people would triumph under the banner of the PDP.

The statement concluded with renewed commendation for Governors Makinde and Adeleke for their people-centric governance and infrastructural strides, urging Nigerians not to lose hope but to remain resolute in rallying behind the PDP in the ongoing struggle to rescue the nation.

The communiqué was signed and presented by Chief Sanya Atofarati, the South West Zonal Publicity Secretary of the PDP.
