Operatives of the Abia State Police Command have successfully rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered ₦2 million ransom, a red Lexus 350 Jeep, and other items following a recent operation.

The victims, identified as Onyedikachi Peter Onyegsi (42), from Akpou, Isuochi, Abia State; Ifeanyi Nnabuife (44), and Amarachi Nwaebubu (26), both from Anambra State, were rescued on July 12, 2025, at about 5:30 PM by officers of the Command’s Intelligence Response Unit (IRU), in collaboration with other tactical teams.
The rescue followed a kidnapping incident reported on April 12, 2025, at the Afojide Market in Isuochi. Acting on credible intelligence, the police launched a coordinated operation that led to the victims’ freedom and the recovery of vital exhibits.
Items recovered during the operation include:
One red Lexus 350 Jeep
₦2 million cash, part of the ransom
Three mobile phones
Two leg chain shackles
The police also confirmed the arrest of some suspects linked to the kidnapping. The individuals are currently undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, commended the operatives for their swift action and reiterated the Command’s firm resolve to rid the state of all forms of crime and criminality.
