Benin City, July 14, 2025 — The Edo State Government has announced the indefinite postponement of the commissioning ceremony for the newly completed Edo Line project in Benin City, originally scheduled for today, July 14, 2025.

The announcement, made through a special government bulletin signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., follows the news of the death of Nigeria’s former President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
According to the release, the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, in consultation with the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, issued the directive to postpone the event as a mark of respect during this period of national mourning.
“All inconveniences associated with this sudden postponement are sincerely regretted,” the statement noted, assuring that a new date for the commissioning will be communicated to the public in due course.
The Edo State Government also extended its condolences to the family of the late former President and to all Nigerians, recognizing the gravity of the loss.
