Governor Okpebholo had, last Friday, announced plans to set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the activities and records of former Governor Obaseki. He made the declaration during a victory parade at the Government House in Benin City, attended by party leaders, civil servants, youths, market women, and various professional bodies.

However, Wike, speaking in Benin City on Sunday evening, cautioned against the move, saying it would be unproductive and could derail the new administration’s focus on development.

“Probing Obaseki is a waste of time,” Wike said. “Use that opportunity and do something for the state. Forgive and let go.”

The FCT Minister, who admitted to past grievances with Obaseki, emphasized the importance of moving on for the sake of unity and progress.

“He wronged me bitterly, as he did Oshiomhole and others, but I ask that you forgive him,” Wike added.
