Backed by a ₦720 billion ($450 million) investment, the ambitious project will see the deployment of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks to deliver petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel directly to consumers across the country. The initiative is designed to eliminate the influence of middlemen in the fuel distribution chain, a factor largely blamed for high pump prices.

Industry experts suggest that the Dangote Refinery is considering a downward review of its ex-depot petrol prices in anticipation of the rollout.

“There might be a downward review before August 15 to facilitate the rollout of the 4,000-truck distribution plan across Nigeria,” a source familiar with the development disclosed.

By addressing critical supply chain inefficiencies and significantly reducing logistics costs, Dangote’s strategy is expected to disrupt the traditional downstream oil market and offer consumers more affordable fuel options.
