In a letter dated July 22, 2025, and addressed to the PDP leadership in Ilare Ward II, Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun State, Hon. Ajilesoro cited “persistent internal conflicts, deep-seated divisions, and the pervasive culture of legal disputes” as reasons for his departure from the party.
Describing the decision as “difficult but necessary,” Ajilesoro stated that the increasing challenges in reconciling the party’s internal crises with his personal convictions and aspirations for effective governance compelled him to exit the PDP.
“I extend my gratitude for the opportunity to have served within the party,” the letter read. “I trust you will accept my resignation in the spirit in which it is given.”
The resignation letter was also copied to the PDP National Working Committee and the PDP Osun State Working Committee.
Ajilesoro’s resignation is expected to stir political realignments in Osun State, especially within the Ife axis, where he commands significant grassroots support. Political observers will be watching closely to see his next move amid speculations of a possible defection to another major political platform.
