The delegation, made up of former state governors who served at the onset of the Fourth Republic in 1999, was led by its chairman and former Edo State governor, Lucky Igbinedion.

Twelve of the former governors, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, attended the closed-door meeting, which lasted over an hour.

President Tinubu, who served as Lagos State governor from 1999 to 2007, was a contemporary of the visiting ex-governors.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Igbinedion said the visit was to commend the president on his current policies and programmes, as well as to offer suggestions on how to further meet the expectations of Nigerians.

This marks the second time the group is meeting with President Tinubu since he assumed office.
