Senator Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla, the former Governor of Adamawa State (2015–2019), has formally resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

In a resignation letter dated 21st July, 2025, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the PDP in Kollere Ward, Mubi-North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Senator Jibrilla expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he had within the party, stating that his experience contributed to grassroots mobilization and Nigeria’s democratic process.
“This decision has not been made lightly. While I deeply respect the party’s legacy, I feel it is time for me to pursue other political/personal commitments aligned with my current priorities,” Jibrilla wrote.

The letter was officially acknowledged and received by Adamu Iya, the Kollere Ward Chairman of the PDP, on the same day.
Senator Jibrilla’s exit from the PDP comes amid speculations of realignments ahead of future elections, potentially signaling broader shifts in the political landscape of Adamawa State and beyond.
