The announcement was made at the close of the 12th Executive Council meeting for the year 2025. In a major shake-up of his cabinet, Governor Alia also announced the appointment of Barr. Moses Atagher as the new Chief of Staff.

Barr. Atagher, a two-time Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Benue State, is widely regarded as a seasoned administrator. He also served as the Acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank. His appointment, according to the Governor, takes immediate effect.

While the dissolution affects only the Commissioners, the Governor expressed deep appreciation to the former cabinet members who served with him over the past two years. He encouraged those not reappointed to remain committed to the party and continue engaging with the system, noting that their exit provides an opportunity for others to contribute to the development of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the outgoing commissioners, Barr. Bemsen Mnyim thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve. “At every stage in life, everywhere you are called to serve is a school. We have learnt a lot while working with you,” he said.

The former Commissioners are to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective Ministries without delay.
