Abuja — The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) says no final decision has been reached regarding its Strike action following a high-level negotiation meeting with federal government officials held today, August 1.

In a statement released by the National Secretariat and signed by Ofere Oluwatonyin, Deputy General Secretary and Head of Organization & Professional Service, the union disclosed that the outcome of the negotiations with the Ministers of Health & Social Welfare, Labour & Employment, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the National Industrial Salary Wages Commission (NISWC), and the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, will be presented to the National Executive Council (NEC) for review and ratification.
The emergency NEC meeting is scheduled to hold virtually via Zoom on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
“Final decision will not be made until the outcome of the meeting is reviewed and ratified by the NEC,” the statement read. “NANNM remains committed to transparency, due process and protecting our collective welfare.”
The union appreciated its members for their continued support and solidarity during this critical period.
