In a press release signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Ibimonia B. S. Harry, the university disclosed that two students were apprehended during the week in connection with the incidents. A female student was caught in Hostel C for stealing money and clothing items, while a male student in Hostel F was found in possession of a stolen laptop. Both students have since been evicted from the hostels, handed over to their parents, and are set to face the Students Disciplinary Committee.

The release further stated that the University Security Unit acted promptly upon receiving the reports and has since taken proactive measures to forestall further occurrences.

“The Management calls on all students and staff to remain calm and vigilant, as both the University Security and external security agents have been deployed across the hostels and campus to address any further security concerns,” the statement read.

In a decisive move to enhance campus security, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, visited Hostel C earlier today. During the visit, he ordered the immediate construction of a security post in front of the hostel, deployment of more security personnel to the area, and installation of protective gadgets around the nearby drainage. He also instructed the hostel porters to intensify visitor screening.

RSU Management has reassured students, staff, and parents that the safety and security of the university community remain a top priority.
