Ekwulobia – The Dr. George Moghalu Campaign Organization has strongly condemned recent remarks made by Governor Chukwuma Soludo during a political rally in Ekwulobia, describing them as “reckless” and “mocking of the electorate.”

In a statement issued on Saturday, the campaign organization expressed dismay over the Governor’s alleged reference to some Anambra citizens as “street urchins” and his assertion that any governorship candidate pledging to serve a single term “needs psychiatric examination.”

According to the statement, such language is unbecoming of the high office Governor Soludo holds, and marks a shift from addressing pressing state issues to deriding the electorate. The organization noted that “Anambra deserves accountability, not mockery.”

The Moghalu Campaign reminded the Governor that the Nigerian Constitution permits an elected governor to serve a single term, and a second term should be earned based on performance, not claimed as a right. Citing Nelson Mandela, who served only one term as South Africa’s president, the campaign stressed that leadership should be viewed as a privilege to serve.

“Three years into his tenure, Governor Soludo is yet to fulfill the grand promises he made to Ndi Anambra,” the statement continued. “Where is the ‘Africa Dubai Taiwan’ transformation? What foreign investment has he attracted? Why has insecurity escalated under his watch? Where are the tangible achievements in education, healthcare, job creation, and infrastructure?”

The campaign said Ndi Anambra are raising these questions not out of political rivalry but from a genuine concern for their lives and future.

Labeling Soludo’s comments as “a sign of panic and fear of a credible alternative,” the campaign maintained that his rhetoric reveals anxiety over the growing popularity of Dr. George Moghalu.

“It is unfortunate that instead of addressing the issues, the Governor has resorted to insults and gutter language. This is a betrayal of Anambra’s rich political heritage and a dishonor to the legacies of our founding fathers—Ojukwu, Achebe, Azikiwe, Ekwueme, and Orizu—men known for their dignity and vision,” the statement added.

Contrasting Soludo’s approach, the Moghalu Campaign said their candidate has pledged to serve a single term out of conviction and in respect of the zoning principle aimed at restoring political balance in the state. With decades of experience in public and private service, Dr. Moghalu, they said, is confident that four years is sufficient for a focused leader to make a difference.

“As the November 8 election approaches, Ndi Anambra must choose between arrogance and humility, between broken promises and proven leadership,” the statement concluded. “Dr. George Moghalu remains committed to respectful engagement, clear vision, and people-oriented governance.”
