Enugu – The South East Patriots (SEP), a prominent advocacy group, has issued a compelling call for unity between Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges and lead the nation toward stability and progress.
Citing unprecedented national issues—including rampant insecurity, soaring inflation, and widespread disillusionment—the SEP emphasizes that a strategic alliance between Atiku and Obi is critical for Nigeria’s survival. The group highlights the impeccable records of both leaders, noting that despite extensive investigations by state agencies, neither has faced corruption charges or indictments from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“Both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have demonstrated exceptional integrity, building successful private businesses independent of government patronage,” said Sir Obunike C. Ohaegbu, KSJI, Ezesinachi of Ukpor and Convener of the South East Patriots. “Their proven track records make them uniquely positioned to restore confidence in leadership and drive meaningful reform.”
The SEP also underscored a historical imbalance: since the end of the Nigerian Civil War, neither the North East nor the South East has produced a President of Nigeria, either through democratic elections or military rule. The group argues that a partnership between Atiku (from the North East) and Obi (from the South East) would foster national reconciliation, promote inclusive leadership, and address regional disparities.
**The SEP’s vision for an Atiku-Obi alliance includes:**
– **National Reconciliation**: Ensuring balanced regional representation to strengthen unity.
– **Restored Confidence**: Leveraging integrity-driven leadership to rebuild public trust.
– **Generational Transition**: Laying the groundwork for sustainable, long-term reforms.
– **United Front**: Countering division and addressing systemic challenges.
The South East Patriots call on Nigerians—across all regions, ages, and sectors—to rally behind this cause. The group urges political stakeholders, community leaders, and civil society to champion this unity as a national priority.
“This is not about personal ambition but about rescuing Nigeria,” Ohaegbu declared. “We must set aside ego and sentiment to embrace equity, leadership, and strategic vision. Nigeria deserves this unity, and it deserves it now.”
The South East Patriots is a non-partisan advocacy group dedicated to promoting unity, equity, and progress in Nigeria through inclusive leadership and strategic collaboration.
