Sowore made the development public via his verified Facebook page, where he shared the official message he received from the Nigeria Police Force.

The notice, signed by SP Hafiz Garba, Investigating Officer and Team Lead, reads:

“Good evening, sir. Please be informed that your meeting with DCP Akin Fakorede, Head of IGP Monitoring Unit, slated for Monday, 4th August 2025, has been postponed. This is due to the unavailability of the Head on that date, as he will be attending to an urgent national assignment in the North East.

Please a new date will be fixed for your meeting and you will be notified accordingly.”

No further reason was disclosed for the invitation or the nature of the meeting. However, the postponement has sparked fresh public interest in the ongoing interactions between law enforcement agencies and high-profile activists in Nigeria.

Sowore, a vocal critic of government policies and former presidential candidate, has had numerous run-ins with security operatives in the past. Observers will be watching closely for updates on the rescheduled meeting.
