In a grand gesture to honour Nigeria’s victorious women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rewarded each player with $100,000, a new apartment, and the prestigious national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

The announcement was made by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu during a reception held in Abuja to celebrate the team’s triumph at the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship.
Each member of the team’s technical crew will also receive a plot of land, while the coaches will get $50,000 each, in addition to being conferred with the national honour of OON. The gesture reflects the Federal Government’s appreciation of the team’s outstanding achievement and their role in bringing glory to the nation.
D’Tigress recently clinched the Afrobasket title for the fourth consecutive time, cementing their dominance in African women’s basketball and earning accolades both at home and abroad.
