In an official statement issued on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, by the Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC described the circulating reports as misleading and mischievous, warning prospective applicants to disregard any such publications.

“The Police Service Commission has not started any recruitment exercise for police officers for the 2025 session. Any publication or announcement to the contrary is false and should be ignored,” the statement read.

The Commission expressed concern over what it termed a consistent attempt by fraudsters to exploit and confuse the public each time recruitment preparations begin. It stressed that the recruitment process has not commenced and would follow established procedures and official announcements when the time comes.

“The Commission wishes to state that the stories currently circulating on social media indicating that the exercise has started and inviting applications is misleading and mischievous,” Ani said. “It hereby advises prospective candidates to ignore the publications and wait for official communication.”

The PSC called on relevant security agencies to track and apprehend the individuals behind the fake announcements, urging them to protect the integrity of police recruitment in the country.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and due process, the Commission warned those behind the false recruitment claims to steer clear of its operations, adding that they would be fished out and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The PSC urged Nigerians to rely only on official platforms for verified information regarding police recruitment or any related matter.
