The All Progressives Congress, APC has issued a blistering response to recent criticisms made by former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing his comments as “the rants of an inconsolable sulker.”

In a statement signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party dismissed El-Rufai’s remarks made during a meeting in Sokoto on Saturday, August 2, where he labelled the Tinubu-led government as “clannish, incompetent, and undeserving of a second term.”
Morka accused El-Rufai of engaging in “infantile politics” since his failed bid for a ministerial appointment, alleging that the former governor has since become “a political clown” and a “poster child of bad governance and failed leadership.”
“Since his rejection as a Minister, El-Rufai has descended from the commanding heights of statesmanship to an erratic and bitter figure,” the statement reads. “His claims are as mischievous as they are hollow.”
The ruling party outlined what it described as verifiable achievements of the Tinubu administration across key sectors of the economy. These include:
- A steady economic rebound
- Ongoing agricultural revolution
- A high-performing stock market
- Improved power generation and transmission
- Oil production nearing 1.8 million barrels per day
- Consistent trade surpluses
- Massive infrastructure projects involving over 420 roads and bridges
- Enhanced military capabilities with 49 advanced aircraft
- Establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for students
- Declining inflation and rising consumer confidence
“These are not the indicators of failure,” Morka said. “They are the hallmarks of visionary and transformational leadership under President Bola Tinubu.”
The APC further lashed out at El-Rufai and his new political allies in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), labelling them “clueless, rudderless, and pitiful opposition politicians” driven by “oversized egos and predatory presidential ambitions.”
According to the statement, the ADC’s alleged plan to field former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate in 2027—despite the presidency being zoned to the South—was a calculated move to undermine national unity.
“It is now clear that El-Rufai and Atiku want to do to Nigeria what Atiku did to the PDP—destroy it through selfish ambition and disregard for national consensus,” Morka added.
He insisted that President Tinubu remains one of the most detribalized leaders in Nigeria’s history and dismissed accusations of ethnic favoritism as “senseless” and “unfounded.”
As the 2027 elections approach, the APC said it remains confident that Nigerians will “renew President Tinubu’s mandate” based on what it claims is “the most outstanding first-term record of any President in Nigeria’s history.”
