The immediate past Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has officially resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of Ndi Elu Ward, Nkporo in Ohafia L.G.A, dated August 5, 2025, Sir Uko Chukwu cited personal reasons for his decision to quit the party with immediate effect.
“You may wish to note that I am resigning due to personal reasons. While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time,” the letter stated.
The former Deputy Governor expressed gratitude for the opportunities the party provided him during his years of service, stating that he appreciated the experience and knowledge gained as a member of the PDP.
“I am most grateful for the opportunities the party availed me to serve at various levels and appreciate the experience and knowledge gained during my membership of the party,” he wrote.
The letter was acknowledged and received by a PDP ward official, Ama Nwoke Ike, on August 7, 2025.
Sir Ude Oko Chukwu served as Deputy Governor of Abia State from May 2015 to May 2023, and his departure marks a significant shift in the political landscape of the state, particularly within the PDP fold in Ohafia.
He is expected to Join the ruling Labour Party in the State.
