The Nigeria Police Force is set to honour integrity, hard work, and dedication as the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, prepares to decorate two officers recently promoted by the Police Service Commission.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the officers—also recipients of national awards for excellence—represent the highest ideals of policing, showing exceptional courage and unwavering commitment to the nation.
The promotion follows a new directive by the Force Management Team to fast-track the elevation of officers who have won the Police Officer of the Year or IGP Recognition Awards in two cumulative years.
Among those to be decorated are ACP Shaba Aliyu, Police Officer of the Year 2023, and CSP Sentome Obi, Police Officer of the Year 2024. Their portraits now grace the main entrance of the Force Headquarters, symbolising their exemplary service. The IGP has also deployed the police jet to bring them to Abuja for the official decoration ceremony.
More than an individual commendation, the move represents a broader cultural shift within the Force—where merit is rewarded, and professionalism is elevated. The IGP’s message is clear: under his leadership, excellence will not only be recognised but celebrated. Officers across the country are reminded that their sacrifices and dedication do not go unnoticed.
