In a press release issued on Thursday, WAEC disclosed that a new innovation — paper serialization — was deployed during the examination in a bid to curb malpractice. This serialization, aligned with best practices in assessment, was applied to subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.

However, during the review of the release process, the council discovered technical bugs that affected the results’ accuracy. In response, WAEC has suspended access to the 2025 WASSCE results on its result checker portal pending a comprehensive correction of the identified glitches.

“The Council, being a responsive body that is sensitive to fairness and professionalism, has decided to urgently review and correct the technical glitches that led to the situation,” the statement read.

WAEC offered a public apology to affected candidates and the general public, appreciating their patience and understanding. It also assured that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours, urging all candidates who had previously accessed their results to re-check them after the stipulated period.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to upholding excellence, fairness, and transparency in all its assessment processes.

The release was signed by Moyosola Adesina, anipr, Acting Head of Public Affairs, WAEC, Yaba, Lagos.
