The directive comes as the 7-day notice of withdrawal of services, originally issued on July 30, 2025, expires today. This decision was jointly endorsed by:

  • National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE)
  • Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN)
  • Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP)
  • Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE)

According to the statement, signed by union leaders Comrades AbdulRasaq Saidu (ANAP), Odinakachukwu J. Igbokwe (NUATE), Frances Akinjole (ATSSSAN), and Alo Lawrence O. (AUPCTRE), all NAMA workers nationwide are instructed to halt operations as of the said date.

The unions also advised all airlines, allied companies, and the flying public to make alternative travel arrangements in anticipation of the impending industrial action.

“All staff shall comply with this directive, and only joint communication from the National Secretariats of the above-named unions shall be heeded with regard to further directives on this matter,” the notice emphasized.

Copies of the notice were sent to:

  1. Hon. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development
  2. Managing Director/CEO, NAMA
  3. Managing Director/CEO, FAAN
  4. Commissioner of Police, Airports Command
  5. Directors of State Security (All Airports)
  6. Airline Operators of Nigeria

The unions closed the announcement with the rallying cry: “Solidarity forever!!!”

This looming shutdown of NAMA services is expected to paralyze air traffic control and related air navigation services across the country, sparking major disruptions in both domestic and international flights.
