The electoral Committee for the 2024 Abia Online Media Publishers general elections, has cleared Prince Clinton Uba and Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro to run for the office of chairman of the association.
Addressing the two chairmanship candidates, the electoral committee chairman, Comrade Ugochuwku Nwankwo urged the two candidates to always put the interest and unity of the association first in everything they are doing if elected.
He also used the opportunity to warn them against indulging in ethnic campaigns but rather present their manifestos to the members of the association, avoid unnecessary confrontations and approach the elections with the spirit of sportsmanship.
“You have seen where we are and the need for us to move forward as an organization. Any of you that emerges as the chairman of this association should put the unity of the association first before any other thing, as campaigns will be starting soon, the electoral committee will not condone any form of ethnic campaign or ethnic agenda. I am from here or there will not be tolerated and anybody caught in the act will face the penalties”. he said.
He enjoined them to be good ambassadors of the association as they go about seeking the full support of the members.
The secretary of the Committee, Comrade Nwabueze Success Onyekachi confirmed that Mrs Okugo Nwadiuto Mabel was also cleared to run for the office of the Treasurer, while the screening of other aspirants continues tomorrow, Friday by noon.
The 2024 Abia online media Publishers General election is slated to hold on the 15th of March, 2024.
