Gov Chukwuma Soludo has banned the extension of classes in all schools in Anambra State and directed all schools to dismiss by 2:30 pm.
He said this directive aligns with United Nations guidelines, aiming to ensure children have sufficient time for rest & interaction with their families.
The decision comes in response to concerns raised by the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, regarding the extended hrs children spend in school, which he deemed detrimental to both students & parents.
The Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh emphasized the govs commitment to providing children with ample time for family engagement outside of school hours.
