Intelligence reports indicate that the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shi’ite, is planning a protest/procession to commemorate the 2024 Islamic calendar day of Ashura. Historically, the group’s processions, protests, and other activities have often resulted in violence.
In response, the Commissioner of Police has banned all related activities and ordered the arrest of anyone who violates this directive. This decision aims to prevent potential unrest and ensure public safety during this period.
