In a bid to foster collaboration and youth empowerment through digital economy initiatives, members of Abia Youths in Imo State paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Dr. Chimezie Amadi, the Commissioner for Digital Economy and E-Government. The visit, held on Thursday, 22nd August 2024, was part of a broader effort to establish partnerships that would benefit both Abia and Imo State youths.
The delegation, led by Comr Rotr Nwachukwu Christian Chibuikem, President of Abia Youths in Imo State, was warmly received by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) to the Commissioner. During the reception, the PRO introduced Hon. Dr. Amadi and provided an overview of the Ministry’s mission and accomplishments since its inception in 2020 by His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodimma.
Comr Nwachukwu Christian Chibuikem introduced the executive members present and stressed the significance of building a strong partnership with the Imo State Government through the Commissioner’s office. He emphasized the vital role Abia youths play in the development of Imo State and expressed the group’s desire to be included in the “Skill-Up Imo” program and other youth empowerment initiatives. Additionally, he conveyed their unwavering support for Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration and requested fair treatment for Abia students in Imo State, particularly in matters related to school fees and other educational expenses.
In his response, Hon. Dr. Chimezie Amadi expressed his pleasure at the visit and acknowledged the valuable contributions of Abia youths to the state’s progress. He highlighted several youth development programs initiated by the Governor, including grants, SME support, and international industrial training opportunities. Dr. Amadi assured the delegation that the government’s programs are inclusive and open to all residents of Imo State. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining a collaborative relationship with Abia youths and encouraged them to remain law-abiding and supportive of the current administration.
Dr. Amadi reaffirmed the shared history and strong bonds between Abia and Imo states and committed to working together for the empowerment and development of all youths in the region.
Comr Micheal Ikenna, on behalf of the delegation, expressed profound gratitude to the Commissioner for the warm reception and prompt approval of their visit. He offered prayers for continued wisdom and good health for Dr. Amadi and the Imo State Government.
