Azubuike Clement Enweremadu has been crowned the Ezeukwu II, Ukwu 14th of Ngwa Ukwu Ancient Kingdom by the kingmakers, Eze Ala Ngwa’ led by the Traditional Prime Minister, Nze Jonathan Nwogu in accordance with the directives of the traditional priest.

At a colourful occasion held on Friday, August 23rd, 2014 by the kingmakers, ‘Eze Ala Ngwa’ led by the Traditional Prime Minister, Nze Jonathan Nwogu, collectively crowned him Eze, stressing that he was chosen by the gods.

Addressing newsmen shortly, Nze Nwogu declared that the coronation was done according to the instructions of the Traditional Priest of the Ancient Kingdom, Ezeala Ngwa the 13th of Ngwaland who urged the community to abide by the tradition on the nomination of the Ezeukwu else, the people and principal actors will face dire consequences of flouting the customs and traditions of the kingdom.

He recalled the various processes passed through in arriving at the exact person to lead the kingdom, adding that the process remains sacrosanct and has always served as a template for choosing the traditional ruler of the kingdom.

Recall that the kingmakers of Ngwa Ukwu Ancient kingdom had petitioned the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs alleging that the traditional ruler of Ngwa Ukwu Ancient Kingdom was unlawfully imposed on the kingdom by the former administration in the state

The kingmakers in the petition urged the Commissioner to ensure that the Panel of Inquiry into Appointment and Issuance of Staff of Office to Traditional Rulers by Past Government revisit their case in the spirit of impartiality and adherence to the principles of justice, fairness, equity and good conscience.

Also in the petition signed by Barrister Kenneth C. Ibeh, the kingmakers called the ‘ Eze Ala Ngwa, the Chief Priest’ affirmed that Prince Clement Azubuike Enweremadu is the rightful Ezeukwu II; Ukwu 14th of Ngwa Ukwu Ancient Kingdom and successor to his late father, Sir Bernard O. Enweremadu

The Petitioner, quoting the Traditional Prime Minister, Nze Jonathan Nwaogu maintained that the rightfull Ezeukwu in the person of Prince Clement Azubuike Enweremadu emerged through the community’s age-long established and accepted procedures for nomination of the traditional ruler as ordained by the gods of the land known as ‘Ukwu Onyenweala’

The Petitioner quoted several correspondences to the then Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt Hon Christopher Enweremadu whom they alleged, jettisoned the acceptable channels of choosing the traditional ruler and chose to impose an unpopular, unchosen and unacceptable person on the entire community against their wishes and the dictates of the gods of the land.

With this crowing today, the 23 day of August, 2024, it has finally laid to rest the controversy surrounding the emergencie of the new Ezeukwu after the death of Late Dr. Bernard O. Enweremadu, which was caused by political considerations, rather than customs and traditions of the land. It is worthy to note that; never in the history of the Ezeukwu Kingdom that any government of the day has ever determined the process.
