The Chairman, House Committee on Public Service in Abia State House of Assembly (ABHA), Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr has called for tolerance and peaceful co-existence among different religious groups.

Erondu Jnr, who stated this in commemoration of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud, pointed out that peaceful co-existence promotes social cohesion, builds stronger communities and fosters a more harmonious society among others.

The lawmaker representing Obingwa-West State constituency, in a statement by his spokesperson, George Egejuru and made available to newsmen today, maintained that the Occasion; the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, should be a time for Muslims to reflect on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad which centres on love, compassion and understanding among others.

In his words: “Our diversity is our strength, and we must continue to promote tolerance, understanding, and mutual respect.

“Let us work together to build a society where everyone can practice their faith without fear of persecution or discrimination”.

The former chairman Obingwa Local Government Area (LGA) who decried economic hardship bedeviling the country, urged Nigerians not to despair but to continue to pray for an improvement in the economy.

The lawmaker further implored Nigerians to strive to be beacon of hope and harmony in a world filled with conflict and division, wishing Muslim community in Nigeria and across the globe Eid-el-Maulud.
