The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended two political thugs during overnight operations. The arrests are part of a broader effort to curb illegal activities and ensure peaceful elections in the state.

According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the suspects, identified as 43-year-old Edwin Obanor and 41-year-old Audu Tajudeen, were caught in possession of firearms. Tajudeen is reported to be a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Ugbogbo quarters in Igara Akoko, Edo State.

“The Nigeria Police Force has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb electoral violence in Edo State with the arrest of these two individuals,” Adejobi stated. He further assured the public that the police are committed to taking action against anyone involved in illegal arms possession or attempting to disrupt the election process.

Authorities have pledged to intensify operations to target illegal weapons holders and political disruptors to ensure a safe and secure environment for voters during the elections.
