The Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its decision to boycott the upcoming local government election, scheduled for November 2. The decision was made following a joint meeting of the party’s State Executives and Local Government Area Chairmen at the State Secretariat in Umuahia.
Engr. Sterling Chinwe Uruakpa, the Assistant State Secretary and Acting Publicity Secretary, stated that the APC would not participate due to the absence of formal communication from the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC). Uruakpa emphasized that the party will not rely on social media updates, demanding that ABSIEC follow due process, ensure inclusiveness, and maintain a level playing field for all political parties.
He noted, “The APC is the ruling party in Nigeria and the largest in Africa, and we will not tolerate any form of disrespect from ABSIEC.” The party insists on proper communication and transparency to restore trust in the election process.
