The Deputy Governor of Abia State, has dismissed accusations made by Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke (Etiokwe), Member Representing Ohafia South State Constituency, regarding alleged interference in the Ohafor Ward Councillorship candidacy.
Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke accused the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Engr. Ikechukwu Lekwachi Emetu, FNSE, of imposing a councillorship candidate on the people of Ohafor Ward in Ohafia Local Government Area. In response, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor Sir Cyril Chukwudi Eke Mba refuted these claims, stating that the Deputy Governor has consistently upheld transparency, fairness, and democracy, never manipulating or coercing the candidacy selection process within the Labour Party.
The statement further criticized Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke’s approach, describing his actions as deceitful and self-serving. It accused him of spreading falsehoods and engaging in personal attacks to discredit the Deputy Governor’s democratic principles. The Deputy Governor’s spokesperson urged Hon. Nwoke to focus on fulfilling his legislative responsibilities to the people of Ohafia South, instead of resorting to divisive rhetoric.
Sir Cyril Chukwudi Eke Mba called on the public and stakeholders in Ohafor Ward to disregard Hon. Nwoke’s accusations and advised him to engage in constructive dialogue rather than spreading baseless allegations. The statement concluded with a reminder for Hon. Nwoke to “deliver on the mandate given to him and squawk less.”
