Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court has issued an order preventing the National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from removing Umar Damagum as the Acting National Chairman.

The court ruled that no other person should be recognized as the PDP National Chairman until the party’s national convention, scheduled for December next year.

Justice Lifu delivered the ruling in a suit filed by Senator Umar El-Gash Maina, citing the party’s constitution, specifically Articles 42, 47, and 67, which stipulate that national officers can only be elected at the national convention.

This decision affirms Damagum’s leadership until the convention or further legal action.
