Hon. Uluocha Chimex, Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Abia State, has expressed satisfaction with the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) for its readiness ahead of the upcoming Local Government Area (LGA) elections scheduled for November 2, 2024. Chimex made this remark after a visit to the ABSIEC headquarters in Umuahia to assess the commission’s screening process.
During the visit, Chimex confirmed that 18 political parties, excluding the All Progressives Congress (APC), will participate in the LGA elections. He commended ABSIEC for conducting a successful training and workshop for Election Observers (EOs), highlighting the commission’s commitment to a smooth electoral process.
Hon. Chimex assured ABSIEC that he would personally attend the upcoming training session for ad-hoc staff, showing his support for the commission’s efforts. He also encouraged ABSIEC to invite political parties to inspect sensitive election materials once they are ready for distribution, underscoring the importance of transparency.
Chimex praised the commission’s efficient pace of work and lauded the non-interference of the state governor in ABSIEC’s activities, which he believes will help ensure a free, fair, and transparent election.
“The non-interference from the governor demonstrates a commitment to democratic values and the integrity of the election process,” Chimex noted, reflecting the administrative dedication to upholding democratic principles in Abia State.
