The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has firmly dismissed claims by Acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum, that the 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting has been cancelled or postponed. In a press statement released on June 25, 2025, the NWC reiterated that the meeting, scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025, remains valid and binding.

The statement also refuted Damagum’s announcement reinstating Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, labeling it as contrary to the resolution of the 99th NEC meeting, which had referred all matters related to the National Secretary’s office to the upcoming session.

The NWC emphasized that no individual or group within the party, including the Acting Chairman, has the constitutional power to overrule NEC decisions. Citing Section 31(3) of the PDP Constitution, the committee declared the NEC as the party’s highest decision-making organ after the National Convention.

The declaration was jointly signed by 11 top-ranking party officials, including Deputy National Chairman (South), Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, and Acting National Secretary, Hon. Setonji Koshoedo, among others.
