Abuja – In a major political realignment, six members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one member of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) from Akwa Ibom State have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The announcement was made during plenary today at the House of Representatives in Abuja.

The defectors include:

  1. Hon. Unyime Idem (PDP to APC)
  2. Hon. Esin Etim (PDP to APC)
  3. Hon. Ekpo Asuquo (PDP to APC)
  4. Hon. Uduak Odudoh (PDP to APC)
  5. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh (PDP to APC)
  6. Hon. Okon Bassey (PDP to APC)
  7. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong (YPP to APC)

All seven lawmakers represent constituencies in Akwa Ibom State and are believed to be aligning with Governor Umo Eno, who reportedly defected from the PDP to the APC last month.

Their defections was announced at the floor of the House of Representatives by the Speaker of the House.
