Speaking on the unfolding permutations, Datti Baba-Ahmed noted that by 2027, the default national sentiment is expected to favour a Southern presidency. “If Atiku takes the ADC ticket, how will Amaechi and Peter Obi react?” he asked, pointing to key Southern political figures likely to be affected by such a move.
Datti Baba-Ahmed, however, cautioned against the suggestion of Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, accepting a vice-presidential slot in any alliance. “I think Peter Obi shouldn’t be a VP,” he said emphatically.
The statement comes amid growing speculation about mergers, alliances, and realignments among opposition parties as Nigeria inches closer to another pivotal election year.
