The symbolic handover took place during an enlarged APC stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo, and marked a significant shift in the political alignment of the state.

Highlighting the meeting was Akpabio’s formal declaration of Governor Eno as the political leader of the APC in the state. To seal the declaration, Akpabio presented the party’s symbol — the broom — to the governor, signaling the transfer of leadership and political control.

Senator Akpabio noted that the existing atmosphere of unity in the state would galvanize massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform-driven administration. He emphasized that these reforms were critical to Nigeria’s economic stability and long-term growth.

In a unanimous voice vote proposed by Akpabio, stakeholders endorsed both President Tinubu and Governor Eno for a second term in office.

Responding, Governor Eno expressed deep admiration for President Tinubu and affirmed that his movement into the APC was a strategic step to accelerate development in Akwa Ibom. He pledged to work towards Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and reiterated his commitment to the party’s ideals.

Governor Eno also commended Senator Akpabio’s leadership at the national level, assuring that Akwa Ibom would stand firmly behind his return to the Senate and another term as President of the Senate.
