Osogbo, July 12, 2025 — The leadership caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has declared total loyalty and support for Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, amid growing speculations about his possible defection to another political party.

In a statement issued by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the Governor, the PDP caucus unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Adeleke and resolved to follow him wherever he decides to go politically.
The decision was the outcome of a high-level caucus meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo. According to the statement, the meeting featured in-depth deliberations following a briefing by Governor Adeleke on the current political developments.
“The Osun PDP leadership caucus today passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ademola Adeleke, unanimously supporting any decision the Governor takes on the growing rumour of defection to another political party,” the statement read in part.
Participants at the meeting included key stakeholders from across all arms of the party and government, including representatives from the National Assembly caucus, the State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, party executives, ALGON leadership, special advisers, and the elders caucus.
The caucus acknowledged the Governor’s impressive performance in office and urged him to continue his consultations with both local and national stakeholders.
While no official confirmation has been made regarding a party switch, the meeting concluded with a communique affirming that the PDP leadership in Osun State will stand solidly behind Governor Adeleke, regardless of his political direction.
Dignitaries in attendance included Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi; Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi; House Speaker Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun; South West PDP Vice Chairman, Engr Kamorudeen Ajisafe; PDP State Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi; former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola; Senator Oluwole Alabi; and several other political heavyweights and party leaders.
The Governor is expected to continue wide consultations before making any official declaration on his next political move.
